[there's a lot she wants to say... so it's best to not just flood his inbox with a crash wave of everything all at once.]

[he actually doesn't call back right away. in fact he kind of stared at it for a while. he had seen her dream, he had known she was alive. but even so he had yet to make any direct contact.

in some ways he had no idea what to say or do and he did not like feeling this way. questioning things. wondering things.

it's probably an hour before he finally calls back.]

Hey, Alice!

[the voice sounds chipper, but there's probably a reason why it's voice only instead of video.]

[Well, that's unexpected-- though maybe it's a good thing.. he sounds like his normal self...]

H-Hi... how are you doing?

[sounds being the operative word.]

As well as one can be, I suppose.

[which doesn't really answer anything.]

[There's a few moments of silence as she tries to organize her thoughts, trying to figure out what exactly to say and how to say it.]

I was wondering--... we were wondering where exactly you've wandered off to? You have Julius all worried about you, you know?

Haha, considering where we came from, the desert is actually not that bad. I've only ran into three desert sharks, two packs of desert wolves, and two sand worm so far.

What do you mean by that? You guys are friends. Why wouldn't he?

[She's gone pale faced now-- even though you can't see it.]

sh-sharks... wolves... worms? Ace get out of the desert right now!!

Do you really think he'd want to stay friends with a guy like me?

[both statements hit her hard, and she can feel something twisting in her gut. a sick, tightening feeling.]

[he's just lying back on the ground, eyes closed as he continues to talk.]

Alice, that's not the first time this world has made me do things under some illusion or altered memory, and it's probably not going to be the last.

The funny thing is, though, I didn't really care those other times.

[That's news to her, she wasn't aware of that fact-- though it only serves to reinforce her determination.]

Even so.... separating yourself from everyone to prevent it from happening again... that's no way to live.

Maybe, but I was getting tired of that place anyway.

[oops. now she's angry. though why she is is a bit confusing.]

Hm. Should I have said "sick of it" instead? [smiles smiles. always smiles.] Frustrated? Annoyed? It was like Heartland all over again and you know how I felt about that. [low chuckle.]
